Today we met at school for a guided tour of Hyeres, including the Templars' Tower, the Villa Noailles and the castle.
Hyeres from my bedroom balcony, evening and morning:
Villa Noailles was built in the 1930s by an avant-garde aristocratic Parisian couple who patronized artists from all over the world. The tour was in French.
Then we hiked up to the castle ruines overlooking Hyeres:
We also were allowed to enter and climb the Tour des Templiers (Knights Templar Tower). We learned that Hyeres was a key city in the middle ages and was a launching point for the crusades.
The last thing we did before lunch was wander around the old part of town. The streets are still the same width as in the middle ages... large enough for two carts to pass (barely). The streets themselves are often still the original stones. In other spots, they paved over the old cobbles, but as the asphalt wears down, the cobbles remain.

Great photos! Looks beautiful. We hope Mr. Gower is feeling better.
